These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 using Greenpois0n for Mac. Greenpois0n has been updated to support the iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2.1 firmware. Use Limera1n if you want to jailbreak iOS 4.0, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2.

Remember: Greenpois0n recommends a clean restore before continuing. Do not update to iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2.1 if you need the unlock. Ultrasn0w does not support that baseband yet. The only exception is the iPhone 4. You can update to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading your baseband by using TinyUmbrella. Start TSS Server->Start iTunes->Plug in your iPhone->Restore 4.2.1->Error 1013->Put phone into DFU Mode->Launch Greenpois0n. We will post more detailed instructions shortly.

Step One
Open your web browser of choice and navigate to http://www.greenpois0n.com. Click the Mac link at the bottom of the screen.

As expected, iPhone Dev team has just released a new version of Redsn0w (Redsn0w 0.9.7b1) that implements the “backup plan” for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak.

Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 can be used to (untethered) jailbreak iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G on iOS 4.2.1. Please note that Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 is meant only for beta testers and not for the general public as there are still some known issues that need to be addressed. Continue reading »

We had reported yesterday that iPhone users who had unlocked their iPhone using a combination of PwnageTool or Redsn0w to update baseband to 06.15.00 and Ultrasn0w 1.2 for iOS 4.2.1 were observing poor battery life.

Developer @sbingner (author of popular jailbreak app – TetherMe) has figured out a way to fix the issue. He has released a jailbreak app called SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module). It tricks your iPhone and iTunes into creating legitimate activation tickets even though you’re unlocked with Ultrasn0w. Continue reading »

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS on the 4.2.1 firmware using RedSn0w for Windows. The Mac version of this tutorial is here.

If you have an iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom you will only be able to perform a tethered jailbreak at this time. This means you will need Redsn0w’s assistance to boot into your jailbroken device.

We had reported yesterday that iPhone Dev Team plans to release the eagerly awaited unlock for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G for iOS 4.2.1 on Sunday.

However, it is not clear if the updated version of Ultrasn0w will unlock baseband 05.15.04 that was shipped with iOS 4.2.1.

But we have some good news for users who have accidentally updated their iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2.1 and updated the baseband to 05.15.04.

Arriving today was the eagerly anticipated iOS 4.2.1 update, along with previously-paid Apple’s device tracking, locking, and wiping tool called Find My iPhone.

Find My iPhone is a tracking application by Apple, it runs on your iOS device and tracks the location of the device. If lost, you can login to MobileMe, see the location of the device, display a message on the device, play a sound, lock the device with a PIN and even completely wipe the data off the device.

Before now this was only available on the iPhone 4, iPod touch (fourth generation), and the iPad. Follow this easy guide to get it working on any iOS device running iOS 4.2.1. To do this you must have, or borrow a friends “2010 iOS device”, either an iPhone 4,  iPod touch (fourth generation), or an iPad. Continue reading »
