I think we can definitively say that Gizmodo has put a massive crimp in Apple’s existing publicity plans for the next iPhone. When Apple announces the phone, the Reality Distortion Field may be a tad less potent than usual. But even if we assume for the sake of argument that the phone Apple releases will be identical to the one that Gizmodo bought from a barfly, there’s plenty that we may not know until Apple has its say–and , just as important, until reviews and consumers get their hands on real, fully-functioning units.

Such as:

1. How fast is it? Gizmodo didn’t have anything to say about the CPU inside the phone. Seems like there’s a pretty good chance it’s something at least vaguely akin to the Apple-designed A4 inside the iPad. Given how zippy the iPad is, that could be as big a deal as anything Giz was able to divine.

If you were not convinced with the images that were published over the weekend of Apple’s new iPhone then you might be convinced with the videos.
Gizmodo has just announced breaking news that they’ve got their hands on Apple’s next generation iPhone, which was found in on the floor of a San Jose bar inside of an iPhone 3G case.

They have also disassembled it to confirm that it is definitely real. John Gruber who had called some of his sources in Apple had also found out that the device is an actual unit from Apple and apparently Apple is very interested in getting it back.

Here are the new features in Apple’s new iPhone or iPhone HD:

Is This The New iPhone 4G ?

Is this the iPhone 4G (or iPhone HD)? There’s no way to tell for sure, but these photos which made their way into our hands certainly do a convincing job of making us think that’s very much the case. Apparently the phone was found on the floor of a San Jose bar inside of an iPhone 3G case. Right now we don’t have a ton of info on the device in question, but we can tell you that it apparently has a front facing camera (!), 80GB of storage (weird, right?), and isn’t booting at this point (though it was previously, and running an OS that was decidedly new). It’s not clear if this is definitely a production model, or just a prototype that found its way into the world, but it’s certainly a compelling design, no matter how you look at it.

Although you shouldn’t expect any release before the official iPhone OS 4.0 will be pushed to the masses, DarkMalloc ( remember him? ) posted a new video showing a jailbroken iPhone 3G running OS 4.0 beta 1. Yeah, nothing new so far. OS 4.0 was jailbroken and we all know that. The big surprise here is that this 3G has multitasking enabled.

Remember that, Apple said they didn’t enable multitasking on iPhone 3G because the hardware is not powerful enough. Well, you can enable the function by editing some plist files. Again, do not expect a tool release any time soon. We will keep you up to date. Stay tuned…

Geohot has updated his super simple jailbreaking tool called blackra1n to work with iPhone OS 4.0 . Although the official 4.0 Software hasn’t been released by Apple, George is just proving to people that he is still on top of his game. This updated version of Blackra1n has not been released and Geohot probably won’t release it until the iPad 3G version hits the shelves or maybe even late summer when the official OS 4.0 is released.

We had recently written about possibilities of a front facing camera coming to the next generation iPhone.

Developers who were working on iPhone OS 4.0 SDK have observed an “iChatAgent” process in the list of running processes.

Folks at 9to5Mac have found more evidence of the video chat feature in iPhone OS 4.0 SDK, which according to them virtually confirms a front facing camera in the fourth generation iPhone.

In a recently published article, the website notes references to chat rooms, moderators and encrypted video conferencing in the newly launched SDK.

For instance, a Conference.framework folder in the OS 4.0 SDK contains a list of audio files that will play when a chat request is initiated. This is pretty similar to the sound files that play on the iChat Mac application.

One of the major disappointments about iPhone OS 4.0 for users who own iPhone models older than iPhone 3GS is the lack of multitasking support on their devices in the latest iPhone OS (in fact iPhone OS 4.0 won’t be available to original iPhone and iPod Touch users).

Steve Jobs had clarified in the Q&A session during the special event to give a sneak peak of iPhone OS 4.0 that multitasking won’t be available on iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G as the hardware just couldn’t support it.
