MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has reconfirmed that it will be possible to unlock the new baseband (05.13.04) that is included in iOS 4 Golden Master and that it might be possible to also unlock iPhone 4.

Two weeks back iPhone Dev Team had confirmed that they will release tools to unlock iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 4.0 now renamed as iOS 4.

The Golden Master version means that it is the shipping version of the software that developers must use to develop and submit iPhone apps that are compatible with iOS 4.0.

When MuscleNerd was asked a question about unlocking iPhone OS 3.1.3 and baseband 05.12.01 that’s included in it, he responded with the following tweet:

yep…the final 4.0 next week will be an even later version and is confirmed unlockable (possibly iPhone4 too)

iPhone Dev Team had discovered two exploits in iPhone OS 3.1.3 baseband (05.12.01) few months back but had decided to wait until a major version of iOS such as iOS 4 to release their unlocking tools. Continue reading »

Apple had showcased the new iMovie app for iPhone during WWDC 2010 Keynote address. The application that will allow users to record and edit HD videos on iPhone 4, will be available on the App Store at a price of $4.99.

While the demo of the iPhone app was pretty impressive, the information available about Apple’s Movie App for iPhone is still quite sketchy resulting in several unanswered questions.

Folks at TidBITS claim that they’ve managed to uncover some of the details about the iPhone app from their source. They’ve revealed few interesting about Apple’s new iPhone application, which Apple engineers have worked on for more than 18 months.

The iMovie app will require iPhone 4 and shall not work on iPhone 3GS. This is because the application will require the new iPhone’s A4 processor to process the real-time transitions. Continue reading »

Steve, the guy who was behind PushFix 2.0 (the first real fix for Push Notifications) for unlocked iPhones and Blacksn0w RC2 fix for iPhone 3.1.3 has just released Blacksn0w RC2 for iOS 4. This version of blacksn0w is basically a repackaged version of the original unlock released by geohot, and the binaries which were recently released by MSFT Guyfor 05.11.07 baseband on iPhone 3GS, running iOS 4.0 GM (formerly iPhone OS 4).

Want to get your hands on an iOS 4-equipped device now without being a registered Apple developer? As a number of readers have pointed out, it seems yesterday’s gold build release works on any applicable iPhone / iPod touch whether or not its UDID has been sent to the dev center. Now that the previous restraint has been lifted, the only requirement now is a copy of iTunes 9.2 — currently for Macs only and still blocked by the developer gate, but once you manage to obtain the appropriate files, the only thing in your path is time itself. Sure enough, we just got through installing the build on an unregistered iPhone without a hitch. Details available via Gumball Tech, and please, don’t forget to back up your data ahead of time. Apple had renamed iPhone OS 4.0 to iOS 4.0 at yesterday’s WWDC 2010 Keynote address and seeded iOS 4.0 Golden Master to developers of its iPhone Developer program.

It is less than 24 hours since it was released and not surprisingly MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has announced that it is possible to jailbreak iOS 4 using jailbreak tool – Redsn0w.

The Golden Master version means that it is the shipping version of the software that developers must use to develop and submit iPhone apps that are compatible with iOS 4.0. Continue reading »

iPhone 4 announced, launching June 24 for $199

Apple has unveiled its new iPhone 4 after a couple wild, unprecedented months of leaks. Sure, it looks exactly like we expected it to (Steve compares it to an old Leica camera), with a glass front and back, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts, kids. The stainless steel band that goes around the phone is an antenna system, while also providing the main structure of the phone, though it’s plugged into the same old GSM / UMTS radio you all know and love — there’s a reason they didn’t call it the iPhone 4G. There’s also of course that front facing camera we were all anticipating, a rear camera with LED flash, and a new high resolution display that doubles the pixels in each direction (960 x 640) for a 4X overall pixel count increase — Apple calls it a “Retina Display.” It’s rated at 326ppi, which Apple claims is beyond the human eye’s limit of distinction. Check out an example of the new screen up against the iPhone 3G after the break. Similar to the iPad, it’s an IPS display, offering 800:1 contrast. Naturally, it’s still the same old 3.5-inch size. Under the hood is the A4 processor that runs the iPad. Despite the new engine (and the 25% thinner chassis), Apple managed to make the battery slightly larger, and the new handset is rated at 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, and 40 hours of music. Oh, and that WiFi? It’s 802.11n now. The camera has been bumped to 5 megapixels, with 5X digital zoom and a “backside illuminated sensor,” which now can also record HD video at 720p / 30fps. Dev Team Will Release Tools To Unlock iPhone OS 4.0, iPhone OS 3.1.3

We had reported yesterday that Blacksn0w, an extremely popular tool to unlock iPhone for iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 3.1.2 had been successfully ported to work with the latest beta version of iPhone OS 4.0 and baseband 05.11.07.

However, since it worked only with baseband 05.11.07, it meant that users who had accidentally upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.3 or iPhone OS 4.0 (when it is released) will not be able to unlock their iPhone.

It also meant that users who bought an iPhone with the latest iPhone OS (iPhone OS 3.1.3 or later) won’t be able to use Blacksn0w to unlock their iPhone.

MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team has just tweeted some good news for users who fall in this category:

People still ask, but sure, with both 4.0 & iPhoneHD coming out this month, so too will the 3.1.3/4.0 carrier unlocks :)

So looks like they’ve managed to unlock baseband 05.12.01 that was bundled in iPhone OS 3.1.3 and also the new baseband 05.13.04 bundled in the latest beta version of iPhone OS 4.0 – iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4. Continue reading »

Blacksn0w, an extremely popular tool to unlock iPhone for iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 3.1.2 has been successfully ported to work with the latest beta version of iPhone OS 4.0 and baseband 05.11.07.

This Blacksn0w port is based on modified binaries by msft.guy and the original Blacksn0w unlock released by Geohot.

The port is still buggy and one needs to re-apply the patched files every time the iPhone is rebooted.
