These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 using Greenpois0n for Mac. Greenpois0n has been updated to support the iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2.1 firmware. Use Limera1n if you want to jailbreak iOS 4.0, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2.

Remember: Greenpois0n recommends a clean restore before continuing. Do not update to iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2.1 if you need the unlock. Ultrasn0w does not support that baseband yet. The only exception is the iPhone 4. You can update to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading your baseband by using TinyUmbrella. Start TSS Server->Start iTunes->Plug in your iPhone->Restore 4.2.1->Error 1013->Put phone into DFU Mode->Launch Greenpois0n. We will post more detailed instructions shortly.

Step One
Open your web browser of choice and navigate to http://www.greenpois0n.com. Click the Mac link at the bottom of the screen.

Cydia’s current release lets you easily download that jailbreak again and again

There’s a new iOS coming… eventually, and if you’ve jailbroken your device you know it’s going to get locked up tight again. The latest version of Cydia won’t change that, but getting back to where you left off just got a lot easier. The app has merged with Rock Your Phone and now enables you to sign in using a Google or Facebook account. It will then track your purchases and downloads so that they can be easily applied again. And again. And probably again. There’s also a new rating system and lots of other goodies — but don’t take our word for it.

We had reported yesterday that iPhone users who had unlocked their iPhone using a combination of PwnageTool or Redsn0w to update baseband to 06.15.00 and Ultrasn0w 1.2 for iOS 4.2.1 were observing poor battery life.

Developer @sbingner (author of popular jailbreak app – TetherMe) has figured out a way to fix the issue. He has released a jailbreak app called SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module). It tricks your iPhone and iTunes into creating legitimate activation tickets even though you’re unlocked with Ultrasn0w. Continue reading »

It’s always a bit of a funny business paying for hacks, but Fire Core’s aTV Flash is a serious product and we can’t blame them for trying to make a buck off the back of it. Now the sequel, aTV Flash (black), is here in beta form, bringing a subset of the aTV Flash’s functionality to the brand new Apple TV, which runs that fancy new iOS-based 4.0 software. Most importantly, Fire Core brings a HTML5-compatible browser, but the Last.fm app and Plex Client are welcome tag alongs. “Coming soon” features include expanded media format support and networked storage support. The pre-order beta price is $20, while the final hack will retail for $30. For existing users, (black) is a free upgrade.
