Flippo Bigarella – developer of jailbreak apps such as Springtomize has released a new jailbreak tweak called CameraLock, which brings the lock screen shortcut feature introduced in iOS 5 for easy and quick access to the Camera app from the lock screen to iPhone users on iOS 4.1 or later.
Just like the iOS 5 feature, the jailbreak tweak adds a camera icon to the Slide to unlock button so that users can quickly launch the Camera app from the lock screen.
In case of the iOS 5 feature, you can only launch the default Camera app. Bigarella has addressed the limitation in his jailbreak tweak by giving users an option to select from 6 Camera apps such as Camera+, Instagram etc. via the Settings app.
The jailbreak tweak also provides other customizations that won’t be available in iOS 5, such as the ability to always show the camera button next to the Slide to unlock button instead of double clicking the Home button to access it. You can also enable the Don’t Lock Back option, so that the iPhone is not locked again after exiting the Camera app.
The only limitation of the tweak is that, users need to enter the passcode unlike the iOS 5 feature.
CameraLock is available for free on Cydia.
If you don’t want to wait for iOS 5 to be released for Lock Screen shortcut feature then you can install CameraLock by following these instructions:
Launch Cydia from your jailbroken iPhone home screen.
Tap on the Manage Tab and then tap on Sources.
Tap on the Edit button and then tap add to add the following repo URL to add sources: http://filippobiga.me/repo
After it is successfully installed, tap on the Search tab and search for CameraLock.
Tap on CameraLock to install it on your iPhone.
By default, you can access the Camera icon on the Slide to Unlock button by double clicking the Home button after installing the jailbreak tweak or you can change the settings (Settings app -> CameraLock) to always show the camera button.
