According to a new report from Re/Code Facebook will launch a mobile ad network later this month at the F8 developer conference in San Francisco according to multiple sources familiar with the matter, says Re/Code.
Facebook will offer the ads and allow its clients to leverage the large the huge database of user info, which will allow them to have better ad targeting. Many have been waiting for Facebook to build an ad network for quite a while to compete with other mobile ad players like Google’s AdMob network, Apple’s iAd, Millennial Media.
The social networking giant generated close to $1.24 billion in Q4 of 2013 just from mobile ads, and if the rumor is true it means Facebook can now make more money form users even if they are not on Facebook’s own properties.
Most ads are said to be app related and will take users to the app store of the mobile platform. Twitter may be joining with its mobile ad network as well.
Facebook will be holding the F8 developer conference in San Francisco on April 30th.
