iPhone Dev Team had released the beta version of Redsn0w 0.9.5 software that allowed users to jailbreak iOS 4.0 GM.
Dev team have released a new version of the tool for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC version) users to jailbreak iOS 4 that was released on Monday.
Here are some important points to note about Redsn0w 0.9.5 beta for iOS 4:
Redsn0w 0.9.5 can only jailbreak iOS 4.
The latest Redsn0w jailbreak tool only supports iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC version). So Redsn0w will not work for iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) users can use PwnageTool 4.0 for Mac or Sn0wbreeze for Windows to jailbreak iOS 4.
The latest redsn0w beta now hacktivates iPhone3G.
Redsn0w 0.9.5 beta is available for both Mac and Windows users.
It will allow iPhone 3G and iPod Touch (non-MC version) users to enable multitasking and custom homescreen wallpaper features, which are officially not available in iOS 4 for these devices.
Redsn0w does not unlock iPhone 3G. After using Redsn0w to jailbreak your iPhone, you will need to use Ultrasn0w 0.93 to unlock your iPhone 3G.
Please take a backup of your iPhone before you use PwnageTool to jailbreak it. Please refer to this post for more details. As with any hack, please proceed with caution as jailbreaking your iPhone could void it’s warranty so proceed at your own risk.
You can download the latest version of Redsn0w from this link.
As always, please let us know how it goes.
