T-Mobile’s American branch would really like to scoop up a few iPhone owners, and we’re getting a better sense of just how far it’s willing to go to lure refuseniks who’d otherwise go to AT&T. A product matrix leaked to TmoNews both shows the US carrier’s specially branded nano-SIM cards and suggests they’ll be available in October. Continue reading »

AT&T announced earlier that it would allow customers on a grandfathered unlimited data plan to keep their plan even when paying a subsidized price for the iPhone 5. The nation’s largest carrier looks to take things a different way, however. A Verizon representative confirmed with 9to5mac this evening that customers will only be able to keep their unlimited data plan if they pay full price for the iPhone 5 ($649 for 16GB). Furthermore, existing Verizon customers can keep their old Nationwide Usage Based plan. AT&T’s (T) customers who have long enjoyed unlimited 3G data on their iPhones are in luck: They’ll be able to keep their unlimited data plans when they purchase the iPhone 5 despite the fact that it’s a 4G LTE device. A company spokesperson confirmed that this will apply to unlimited data plans currently held by AT&T iPhone users. AT&T’s full press release follows below. Continue reading »

As you might have guessed, this is also the thinnest iPod touch to date, measuring in at 6.1mm and weighing 88 grams (3.1 ounces). On the inside, it packs an A5 chip promising seven times the graphics performance of the last-gen model. The battery is rated for 40 hours of music playback, or eight hours of video. Its name is enough to send CEOs into cold sweats, which is why the rest of the mobile world spent last week announcing their hardware back-to-back to steal a march on this handset. Now, after all of the rumor, speculation and leaks, Apple’s sixth iPhone has finally been unveiled in San Francisco. We’ve got around 45 minutes before the world begins idly speculating about next year’s iteration, so let’s spend what little time we have delving into what’s changed. Continue reading »
