Yesterday’s update to OS X Lion Preview 3 adds a very helpful new “Do Not Disturb” feature for notifications. The feature is a toggle accessible at the top of Notification Center that allows users to block incoming alerts and banners. Expected to feature the Unreal Engine and again being set around the same lead protagonist as the earlier games, N.O.V.A 3 is believed to be on target for a release on iOS towards the end of this year. The forty-eight second trailer shows lead character Kal Wardin apparently crash-landing on Earth when aiming for San Francisco. Apple released a press statement, announcing that a dozen new countries will able to purchase the new iPad from retail outlets starting this week. From Friday, South Korea, Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, Panama, St Maarten, Uruguay and Venezuela can finally get their hands on the world’s number one tablet. The update, named simply Java for OS X 2012-003, comes after over 600,000 Macs were infected by the Flashback Trojan at its peak, leaving third party developers to put together various apps for diagnosing and then cleaning infected systems.

Mac owners almost never being the victims of such attacks – Windows-powered PCs have traditionally been the target – questions are now being asked as to whether this may signal the beginning in a shift of focus for the bad guys. Continue reading »
