So, Santa stuffed an iPad into your stocking on Christmas (insert mythical figure / appropriate receptacle / holiday of choice), and you’re wondering what to do with the thing? First of all, congratulations! The iPad can be a wonderful, loyal companion and friend, but it can also take a while to warm up to. As we always say, a device is only as good as its apps, both literally and figuratively: it’ll take some time to figure out what you want to get from the iTunes Store that will flesh out your experience, but it will also take some time to see which nooks and crannies of your life the iPad can fill, and what roles you’ll want it to take over from your laptop and phone. Follow along after the break as we show you how to wring the most out of your shiny new tablet.
Many of you asked for it and so here is the detailed guide on how to downgrade your iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod touch 2G / 3G running iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1 / 4.0 / 3.1.3 / 3.1.2. The following step by step guide will help you rollback / downgrade to iOS 4.0.1 / iOS 4, iPhone 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 from iOS 4.0.2 as long as you have SHSH blobs saved for the respective firmwares for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touches.
While Apple has released iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G, the important thing is that they haven’t updated the baseband. What this means is that 05.13.04 baseband which accompanies iOS 4.0.2 is still unlockable with ultrasn0w provided that you manage to jailbreak your iOS device. At the moment, only iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (Non-MC model) can be jailbroken on this latest firmware using the latest version of Redsn0w. So technically, you can only unlock iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0.2.
Ok guys I just tested it on an old iPhone 3G lying around and can confirm that this works! Now that Apple has released iOS 4.0.2 to patch the PDF exploit, JailbreakMe which was previously used to jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 3G / 2G and iPad is now incompatible with iOS 4.0.2. But if you have iPhone 3G (which doesn’t rely on an unlock) or an iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) lying around, you can jailbreak it using the existing version of Redsn0w. Simply follow the step by step guide posted below to jailbreak the mentioned devices on iOS 4.0.2 using Redsn0w.
iOS 4.0.1 has been released for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G. While the iPhone 4 and 3GS users will have to wait for a new jailbreak tool, iPhone 3G can go ahead and jailbreak their phone on iOS 4.0.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5. Again, this is strictly for iPhone 3G only. All other iOS based devices will be jailbreakable once Comex releases his new jailbreak tool.
AppSync 4.0 for iOS 4 jailbroken is now available in the Cydia. AppSync 4.0 patches MobileInstallation file on iOS 4 so that you may install cracked apps on iOS 4. Once you install AppSync OS 4.0 on your iDevice running iOS 4, you’ll be able to install cracked .ipa apps on your iDevice.
