Stefan Esser, a security researcher, has reported a serious malware called “Unfold Baby Panda” on jailbroken iOS devices that is sending Apple ID and password to to servers based in China.
Sometimes it can be hard to see where we’re walking while we’re in a in depth conversation through text. Well, do not fret, because there is now a jailbreak tweak that uses the camera to show you right where you’re walking while texting.
CamText is going to use the camera as the background on the Messages app. That way you get a live feed of what you’re about to walk onto or into without even looking up from your device. You’ll need to install Messages Customiser, which is a free tweak that enables this tweak to work.
By default, iOS uses fairly minimalistic sliding transitions when moving back and forth between panels in many applications, including the built-in System Preferences App. PagePusher replaces that with a page-turning effect, which you may either find beautiful or incredibly annoying.
This tweak was developed by Ryan Petrich, an Edmonton, Canada-based developer, as part of Tweak Week, a series of daily open-source tweak releases. Ryan has worked on several other iOS tweaks in the past, as well as full-fledged apps, including Overboard, which allows users to look at all their home screens at a glance; Display Recorder, a screen recorder for iOS that outputs high-quality video; and DisplayOut, which allows users to mirror their iDevice screen onto projectors larger monitors using Apple’s own HDMI, VGA, Component or Composite adapters.
These are instructions on how to dump the SHSH blobs of your current firmware even if Apple is not signing.
For instance, you can dump the SHSH of the current firmware on your device, so long as the device is susceptible to the Limera1n jailbreak (Everything but the iPad 2) Apple does not have to be signing the SHSH in order for you to dump the blob.
*Note the iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G will not work since they will always be jailbreakable. The iPad 2 will not work because it is not susceptible to Limera1n. A jailbreak is not needed for this.
You knew this was coming — it was only a matter of time — and here it is, Apple’s latest creation sans the iOS 4.3 chains. The development community credits @comex with installing Cydia on this white iPad 2, and he’s apparently already hard at work on a public jailbreak. According to his Twitter feed, the hack required a brand new exploit, as previous bugs were squashed in iOS 4.3. We’ll keep you posted on when the hack’s ready for you to use, too.
It looks like iPod nano that was launched by Apple in September has been hacked by developer and hacker, James Whelton.
He has managed to remove an app icon from iPod nano’s Springboard and replace it with a blank space by bypassing the checks performed by the Nano OS.
I’ve successfully done a basic springboard hack, figured out how to bypass the cache comparison and uncovered some interesting stuff as whats to come on the iPod Nano. The springboard hack is just the removal of a app and creation of a blank space. Not that amazing, but whats important is the bypass of Nano’s cache comparison, which compares any modded SB file and reverts it if it doesn’t like it, this opens up the possibility of hacking and modding, while not adding bootloaders or any of that fun stuff.
You can checkout the video of the hacked iPod nano below:
If you found FastSnap useful, a jailbreak app that allows you to use the volume buttons to capture a photo or video in iPhone’s camera app then you will probably like VUnlock as well.
VUnlock is a jailbreak app that allows you to unlock your iPhone’s homescreen using the volume buttons. VUnlock is a useful hack if you’re tired of swiping the ‘slide to unlock’ button to unlock iPhone’s screen.
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs had posted an open letter elaborating on the reasons why Apple has chosen not to allow Adobe Flash on their platform.
But that hasn’t stopped Comex, developer of jailbreaking tools like JailbreakMe and Spirit from figuring out a way to hack iOS to get Flash content to work on Apple’s iDevices.
JailbreakMe 2.0 released by Comex is the easiest method to jailbreak iPhone but it doesn’t hactivate the iPhone, which is required if you don’t want to use the official iPhone carrier SIM.
Sherif Hasim had figured out an easy way to activate iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G without needing the official iPhone carrier SIM but looks like it doesn’t work anymore as users are reporting that they are getting “Different SIM detected” error message.
Uh oh. According to Valleywag, an AT&T security breach led to the exposure of 114,000 email addresses (and associated SIM / ICC identifiers) belonging to Apple iPad owners. A group of hackers calling themselves Goatse Security (be careful looking that one up) figured out a number of ICC-IDs and ran a script on AT&T’s site through a faked iPad UserAgent, which would then return the associated addresses. Some of those affected were actually quite big names, including the CEOs of The New York Times andTime Inc., some higher-ups and Google and Microsoft, and even a number of employees from NASA, FAA, FCC, and the US military.
