Scotty Loveless, a former Apple Store Genius Bar employee, has posted ‘The Ultimate Guide to Solving iOS Battery Drain’.

I worked on the Genius Bar for almost two years, and the most difficult issue to solve was short battery life. It was extremely difficult to pinpoint the exact reason why someone’s battery was draining.

I made it my mission to discover the specific reasons for iOS battery drainage. Apple has contributed in Bono’s (Product)RED charity by selling special red versions iOS devices and accessories and reached $65 million last September making the company the largest contributor among participating companies donating portions of profits from products sold under the (Product)Red branding. . Apple has sent out a mail to registered developers letting them know about the changes to apps prices in some countries due to changes in foreign exchange rates. The App Store prices will increase in Australia, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and South Africa. As apposed to Israeli and New Zealand App Stores, they will be decreasing their prices. The new pricing matrix will be live within 24 hours to developers and will show actual prices in local currency. Continue reading »

Movie Trailers app is available for the iPhone and iPad and lets you watch new and exclusive HD movie previews  and now Apple has updated the app to version 1.4 and includes support for notifications and reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

The app was released in 2011 and Apple has been making improvements . The addition of Rotten Tomatoes reviews is a major improvement that lets users check movie reviews from the best critics. The new update also  includes  support for notifications that allows you to add a movie to a favorites list and be alerted when it arrives in theaters or debuts in iTunes. Continue reading »

Apple offering refunds for recent in-app purchases if they were made by a minor. This is one of several steps the company has taken in to curb inadvertent in-app purchases by children. The email sent to iTunes account owners gives instruction on how to receive a refund if a purchase inadvertently was made by a minor.
