Apple To Release New MacBook Air For $799 [REPORT]

Apple, MacBook Air, rumors  Comments Off on Apple To Release New MacBook Air For $799 [REPORT]
May 072012

Rumor has it that the new MacBook Air will arrive in Q3 of this year for the very reasonable price of $799. The Air has progressed fantastically during the past three years, and its position as a game-changing device has been affirmed by the number of slim Windows notebooks – or ultrabooks, as they are known – that have surfaced as a result of its success. Before the device was first introduced, any thin and light portable computer scrimped on features, but the Air offers a smooth and powerful experience – despite boasting a form factor no thicker than 50 sheets of paper. Apple To Launch 15-inch MacBook Air March 2012

There can be little argument that Apple’s MacBook Air line of ultra-thin, ultra-portable notebooks has been a success. Despite initial skepticism when the first 13″ model launched with slow hardware and super small hard disks, the last two iterations have offered a much more robust machine.

Add the new 11″ model to the equation, and Apple has taken the netbook market it crushed with the iPad, and reinvented it. Most agree that the 11″ MacBook Air is the perfect machine for any road warrior, and the fact that this post is being written on one, sat in the driving seat of a car, should go some way to proving that pretty conclusively. Don’t worry, we’re stationary!

They say Apple updates its products like clockwork, releasing something new at the same time in the same place every year. Not so with MacBook Airs anyway. The outfit’s gone and freshened up its 13-inch and 11-inch ultraportables — the second such update in nine months. Although the industrial design hasn’t changed much since the last generation, both models step up to Sandy Bridge Core i5 and i7 processors, Thunderbolt ports, backlit keyboards, and, of course, OS X Lion. We just spent some quality time with the new 13-inch MacBook Air, and it certainly seems like a worthy upgrade. It definitely feels significantly bigger than the 11-incher, and we noticed the function keys are standard MacBook size, as opposed to the shrunken ones on the 11. We also noticed that it was seriously instant-on — we popped the lid open and closed several times while taking photos, and it was ready to go the second we opened it. We’ll have more impressions and pics in a few, stay tuned! Continue reading »

The guy behind The MacBook Air Project site has managed to fit a fully working Mac (MacBook Air to be more precise) under a combination of Apple Wireless Keyboard and the newly released Magic Trackpad. It is one single piece which you can connect to any monitor to enjoy full Mac OS X experience. Amazing isn’t it? It features: 1.6 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, and 80GB of HDD. He did this because he believed that it “will be used much beyond internet / email….maybe as an Apple TV replacement”.
