When Steve Jobs unveiled iPhone 4 at the WWDC 2010 Keynote address it didn’t come as a big surprise as it was similar to the lost next generation iPhone prototype that Gizmodo had revealed.

But Apple manufacturing its own case for iPhone 4 did come as a surprise.

Apple is calling its iPhone 4 case, a Bumper. The iPhone 4 Bumper goes around the edge of the iPhone 4 and doesn’t cover the back of the iPhone like regular iPhone cases. It comes with metal two-tone colors buttons for volume and power.

Boy Genius Report is claiming that according to their sources, Apple is very likely to launch its next generation iPhone on June 18.

It is widely expected that Steve Jobs will unveil the fourth generation iPhone on Monday during the WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2010 Keynote address.

BGR reports:

We have confirmed with multiple AT&T store reps that their sales quotas for the month of June are ridiculously high. Yes, this means the iPhone is confirmed to launch in June, not July. Knowing how many units stores received per day/week last year, if the iPhone launched in the last week of June, on Friday the 25th, we’re pretty sure the new sales quotas couldn’t be met (in-store orders don’t count as they don’t get recognized until the customer picks them up). We have heard stores having a 25-30% increase in their sales quota, so we’d like to think the next Apple iPhone will launch on Friday, June 18th. We’ll see pretty shortly.

Google made some big announcements at Google I/O Conference last week. One of them was the launch of Android OS 2.2, dubbed Froyo. So what is Steve Jobs’ take on the latest announcement?

A couple of emails exchanged between Apple enthusiasts and Steve Jobs over the weekend shows that Apple may counter Google’s threat with few big announcements at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2010, which starts on June 7.

In one email, a London based iPhone user asked Steve Jobs about his opinion on the Google I/O announcements and if Apple had similar announcements lined up for the as well. In his response, Steve Jobs is noted to have replied, “You won’t be disappointed”.

Gizmodo surprised the tech world with its scoop on the iPhone 4G model last month. Today, folks at Taoviet, a Vietnamese tech forum have gone a step ahead to reveal more pictures and details about what could be Apple’s new iPhone.

This is significant because the iPhone showcased at Taoviet could possibly be a newer prototype that might be closer to the actual iPhone model that is expected to go on sale next month.

The iPhone unearthed by the Vietnamese website is a 16GB pre-production model that does not run any OS. Instead, the handset is loaded with a “Bonfire” test routine. The device was apparently purchased by a businessman from an anonymous source for $4000.

Here are some observations of the newly leaked iPhone 4G model:

iPhone OS 4 for iPhone 2G

A group of hackers are working on bringing iPhone OS 4 over to the original iPhone EDGE (aka iPhone 2G) which was released back in 2007. Due to low memory and slower processing power, Apple decided to cut further upgrade support path for iPhone 2G in OS 4. The original iPhone EDGE users enjoyed all the firmware upgrades for free up to iPhone OS 3.1.3.
