The past week has seen a massive amount of leaked next generation iPhone parts, the latest being from Greek iPhone, reports BGR.

According to the blog Greek iPhone, which published photos of what it is claiming to be new components from Apple’s upcoming iconic device, the iPhone 5 will be thinner than the current model and it will also feature volume buttons on the opposite side of where they sit now on the iPhone 4. Additionally, the camera module is “quite different” and thinner than the existing part, and it reportedly supports a higher resolution than the current module – it looks like an 8-megapixel sensor is all but confirmed.

Well, you can’t knock them for trying. First it was the images, which then evolved to videos and even an audacious “Apple.com” visual of the forthcoming iPhone. The latest effort, which claims to be an unboxing of the eagerly-awaited smartphone, has made a good attempt to seem legit in the form of a professional boxing, as if it were shipped directly from the Cupertino company. Apple has been granted a preliminary injunction against Samsung prohibiting the sale of the Galaxy Tab in the entire European Union except for the Netherlands, reports FOSS Patents. Apple first sued Samsung for copying the look and feel of its iPhone and iPad devices in April.

The leading German news agency, dpa, just reported that Apple has been granted a preliminary injunction against Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy Tab 10.1, barring distribution of the product in the entire European Union except for the Netherlands. I can confirm that Apple has a separate lawsuit underway in the Netherlands as well, asserting (European) Community utility model no. 000181607-0001.

iPhone 5 mockup

John Packowski writes for The Wall Street Journal’s blog AllThingsD that, alas, iPhone 5 will be launching in October, not in September as the rumor mill has been buzzing over the past few weeks. This information apparently comes from an unnamed source close to Apple. The blog has been right about many things Apple in the past so it’s worth mentioning here:

We’ve just been handed some internal AT&T information on device changes:

A new tier of device will be created in AT&T’s phone database on October 4th (a Tuesday:) which will require a higher rate of insurance. iPhone (and other devices) will move there on the arbitrary October 4th date. It is curious that the iPhone was mentioned specifically and not other devices.

Verizon iPhone: Over-the-air updates for iOS 5

Apple, rumors  Comments Off on Verizon iPhone: Over-the-air updates for iOS 5
May 052011

Having spent a good part of our day yesterday negotiating with iTunes and downloading a whopping 666.2MB file to update our iPhone to version 4.3.3 — a version, we might add, whose sole claim to fame is the removal of things — we know well the pains of updating Apple’s mobile software. Those aches, however, may soon be coming to an end. 9to5Mac has multiple sources informing it that Apple and Verizon are scheming to start delivering iOS updates over the air from this fall, or just as soon as iOS 5 is made available. Untethered OS updates are a familiar feature to users of other smartphone operating systems and even the iOS-infused Apple TV, but getting Apple’s mobile devices up to date has so far always required going through the company’s own cable and software. Former Engadget editor Joshua Topolsky has heard that the iPhone 5 will get a radical teardrop redesign with a 3.7-inch screen and a home button gesture area.

Our sources say the new model (or at least one of the new designs in testing) looks “more like the iPod touch than the iPhone 4.” The phone will be thinner than the iPhone 4, and may have a “teardrop” shape which goes from thick to thin (something along the lines of the MacBook Air profile).
